Life in The Netherlands is all about the sea. From the Markermeer, just north of Amsterdam, through the IJsselmeer and up to the North Sea Coast and the Waddenzee, this tour will bring you from sea to sea and to picturesque fishing villages, historic Hanse towns and through beautiful landscape. Discover why the Northern parts of the Netherlands have their own language, explore some of the oldest towns of the whole country and enjoy the freshness of a uniquely healthy climate.

From the pulsating, colourful capital Amsterdam this tour will take you to the former Hanse town of Stavoren with its old port and lighthouse. Further north Leeuwarden — or Ljouwert, as the local Frisian dialect names it — offers a wide range of cultural and historical sights. Leeuwarden is the birthplace of Mata Hari and the famous artist M. C. Escher. In 2018 the town was European Capital of Culture. Towns like Sneek and Grou „breathe“ watersports, as they proudly claim themselves. From the port of Harlingen you will cross over to the island of Terschelling. And picturesque Makkum on the IJsselmeer coast boasts with a beautiful beach. While Enkhuizen on the opposite coast has a wonderful museum, where local and regional history is literally coming alive. This tour includes an Ijsselmeer crossing on board of the Elodie.
